Four hands at their glorious summit

Andreas Staier comes to the Théâtre de la Ville for the thirteenth time, a sure sign of the utmost loyalty. At the same time, this is an anniversary: twenty years ago, in the 1990-1991 season, the outstanding harpsicord and pianoforte virtuoso player was invited for the first time. With his renowned international career, his plentiful discography either as a soloist or with the most eminent and varied instrumentalists. Andreas Staier is considered as an unequalled master, at ease with a repertoire as diverse as it is attractive. Indeed it covers a large time span linking the baroque era to the 19th century. In this recital, he will share the evening with Christine Schornsheim, whom he had invited here in October 2004, and who came back for recitals at the Théâtre des Abbesses in 2007 and 2008. Alternately on their own or together at the keyboard, they will play compositions by Schubert and by the lesser known Onslow et Boëly, three emblematic figures of the romantic soul at its purest.

Gérard Mannoni
