The three of them, Maqoma, Cherkaoui and Winlock, met at Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s school. They all left to different places. They get together again and recognize each other.

Back to the past: Gregory Maqoma, Shanell Winlock and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui met at PARTS, a school founded by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Ten years later, although Gregory lives in South Africa, Shanell in Londo, not far from Akram Khan, and Larbi in Belgium, their discussion has never ceased. Today, they continue it with their bodies in Bound. Cherkaoui doesn’t dance in it. He questions the doubts and thoughts about contemporary creation that have always filled their conversations. He probes them in his own way to lead Maqoma and Winlock to a point they would never have reached without him. And so as to talk about their trio with more clarity, he scatters ropes through his choreography. Their issue is to devise a type a dance in which they fully exist without trying to invent new ways of moving. In the second part, Maqoma re-creates Southern Comfort, composed in 2001 for Shanell and himself, and on which he began to work on again in 2008. An impassioned and humorous piece about stereotypes.
