Biography

Claude Régy was born in 1923. He studied drama under Charles Dullin, then Tania Balachova after having studied political sciences. In 1952, Federico Garcia Lorca’s Doña Rosita was his first production in France. He soon relinquished realism and psychological naturalism, opting for new paths into other forms of representation and spheres of life. He favours contemporary drama, with texts that he often reveals to the public and which drive him towards extreme endeavours where all certainties on the nature of reality collapse. Claude Régy premiered in France plays by Horold Pinter, Marguerite Duras, Nathalie Sarraute, Edward Bond, Peter Handke, Botho Strauss, David Harrower, Jon Fosse, Sarah Kane, Arne Lygre.
