Biography
VA Wölfl studied in Salzburg with painter Oskar Kokoschka and completed his training at the Folkswangschule in Essen. In 1985, for Susanne Linke, he composed Schritte Verfolgen, his first attempt at choreography (the piece was presented by the Théâtre de la Ville at the CND in 2009). From 1986 to 1995, he headed the Düsseldorf-based NEUER TANZ alongside choreographer Wanda Golonka. After 1995, VA Wölfl remained alone on board and produced, among other pieces, Greenspan Aktentasche, Revolver, das Chrom + 8 Du and 12... im linken Rückspiegel auf dem Parkplatz von Woolworth (the latter was presented at the Rencontres Chorégraphiques de Seine-Saint-Denis). VA Wölfl was elected member of the Berlin Academy for the Arts in 2007.
