Avec Bahok, Akram Khan reprend d’une certaine façon quelques-uns de ses thèmes de prédilection, comme le voyage, l’échange ou le brassage des cultures. Fort d’une compagnie protéiforme – à laquelle 3 interprètes du Ballet national de Chine se sont joints –, le chorégraphe de Londres décrit, à sa façon, sensible, ce monde qui bouge autour de nous, ces migrations de corps et d’esprit. Sa danse, plus belle que jamais, raconte ces voyages intérieurs tandis que le travail sur le texte de l’écrivain Hanif Kureishi et du dramaturge Guy Cools renforce encore la portée symbolique de Bahok. Enfin, un autre fidèle d’Akram Khan, le compositeur Nitin Sawhney, apporte sa touche personnelle à ce grand ballet des temps modernes. Philippe Noisette |
In Bahok, Akram Khan tackles again some of his favourite themes, such as travelling, sharing or cultural mixing. Relying on his protean company which has been joined by three performers from The National Ballet of China, the London choreographer describes in his own sensitive way the world which moves around us, the constant migrations of body and mind. The dance he creates is more beautiful than ever and relates these inner explorations, while his work on the texts by novelist Hanif Kureishi and playwright Guy Cools enhances Bahok’s symbolic import. Finally, composer Nitin Sawhney, another of Akram Khan’s faithful associates, brings his personal touch to this great ballet of modern times. Philippe Noisette. |
