Voici une saison, un solo de Louise Lecavalier, “I” is memory plongeait le public du Théâtre des Abbesses dans une stupéfaction admirative. Celle qui fut la légendaire « tornade blonde » de la célèbre compagnie canadienne La La La Human Steps, sgnifiait une autre étape de sa carrière, radicalement neuve, en avouant un corps défait, peinant à installer sa verticalité, dilué sous des vêtements informes. Le chorégraphe en était Benoît Lachambre, rattaché à l’esthétique contemporaine de l’improvisation et des fines explorations perceptives du mouvement intérieur. Ces deux très grands artistes se retrouvent à nouveau aujourd’hui, cette fois tous deux sur le plateau, pour le duo Is you me. Ce titre dit bien l’approfondissement de leur rencontre nourrie de constrastes, qui va chercher au-delà de l’apparence première du mouvement. D’autant que l’exigeant vidéaste plasticien Laurent Goldring, et le musicien Han Rowe œuvrant sur des textes de Benoît Lachambre, s’insèrent dans la globalité de ce projet chorégraphique. Two seasons ago, the solo by Louise Lecavalier « I » is memory filled the audience at the Théâtre des Abbesses with astounded admiration. The former legendary “blond tornado” from the famous Canadian company La La La Human Steps then showed a radically new phase in her career; she exposed a haggard body striving to achieve verticality and diluted in shapeless clothes. The solo had been choreographed by Benoît Lachambre, a specialist in the contemporary aesthetics of improvisation and of subtle perceptive explorations of the inner movement. The two great artists meet again today, and this time they are both on stage for the duet Is you me. The title testifies to the way they have gone even further in their common work, which feeds on contrasts and reaches beyond the first appearances of motion. The demanding video director and visual artist Laurent Goldring, along with Han Rowe, the musician working on Benoît Lachambre’s texts, play a comprehensive part in this choreographic project.
