Style et proximité au sein d’une tradition millénaire comme le bhârata natyam sont des denrées rares. La danseuse et chorégraphe indienne Priyadarsini Govind les conjugue avec évidence. Pour son deuxième passage au Théâtre de la Ville, elle offre un récital minutieusement articulé autour de séquences de danses écartées par les interprètes contemporaines. Conçue en complicité avec l’experte Élisabeth Petit, cette nouvelle pièce exacerbe les lignes de force de la structure du récital traditionnel pour mettre en lumière le vocabulaire et la progression dramatiques. Within a millenary tradition such as the bhârata nyam, a classical style and a modern way of showing it are rare ingredients indeed. The Indian dancer and choreographer Priyadarsini Govind combines them with absolute clarity. On the occasion of her second visit to the Théâtre de la Ville, she offers a recital that is carefully structured around pieces usually discarded by contemporary performers. Elisabeth Petit with her expertise and friendly complicity contributed to the piece. It enhances the basic architecture of the traditional recital so as to bring the choreographic vocabulary and the dramatic progression to the fore. Jeanne Liger |
