Pablo Fidalgo Lareo author, director

Habrás de ir a la guerra que empieza hoy
In spanish, french subtitles

(You’ll Go to the War that Begins Today)

A poignant testimony bringing together the Spanish Civil War and a family history.
It all started when when Pablo discovered “Papirozoo”, an origami handbook written by his great-granduncle. Thus, he begins to reconstruct the history of his family and of twentieth century Spain. Throughout the show Pablo Fidalgo Laero restores the fascinating figure of his great granduncle Giordano Lareo, who was a teacher, translator, treasurer of the Republic in exile, author of the first origami handbook in Argentina. Imprisoned during the Spanish Civil War he went into exile after narrowly escaping execution. The author pays tribute to the impressive and unconventional path of this man and to Argentina, the land of exile, of fight and of hope. Readings by Pablo Fidalgo Lareo, one of the most talented authors of contemporary theatre, have already been programmed during Chantiers d’Europe 2013.

“Habrás de ir a la Guerra que empieza hoy” has been named Best Theatre Piece of 2015 by Portuguese newspaper Público.
