Maxime Gorki Author
Eric Lacascade Director

Les Bas-Fonds  creation

(THE LOW-LANDS)

After Les Barbares, and Les Estivants (presented at Les Gémeaux), Eric Lacascade found Gorki. After pointing out the unconsciousness of a bourgeoisie in decline, he places us face to face with these beings with whom we live – the homeless, refugees in a space where they find “their” shelter. This piece dated to 1902 demonstrates suffering, humiliation, but still hope despite everything. Laughter doesn’t die… What has changed?
