DANCE I GRÈCE

Euripides Laskaridis

Relic
FRIDAY MAY 13th 12:30 & 20:30 I Palais de Tokyo I Utopie 500
IN COOPERATION WITH THE CENTRE HÉLLENIQUE

A strange and touching performance about our acceptance of the different and the unknown.
Flirting with the incongruous, Greek choreographer Euripides Laskaridis has invented an amusing character that tinkers, sings and dances with a spirit that evokes vaudeville, cabaret and burlesque. The Greek artist is focused on themes that touch on transformation, difference and the ridiculous and tests the audience’s acceptance for the unknown.

INSTALLATION I FRANCE-AUSTRALIA

Angelica Mesiti

Citizens Band
FRIDAY MAY 13th 14:00 - 19:  I Palais de Tokyo I Utopie 500
COURTESY OF THE ARTIST AND ANNE SCHWARTZ GALLERY, SYDNEY/MELBOURNE

After an exile, what remains of our roots, our culture and our traditions?

The video installation Citizens Band uses simplicity and finesse to evoke the musical culture of four migrants, two in Australia and two in France. Filmed using a high-definition camera, the performances of a woman from Cameroon, a man from Algeria, a man from Mongolia, and a man from Sudan, captivate us with their dignity and the unusual richness of a world to which we are transported. Citizens Band is an ode to people who, despite exile, maintain links with their cultures but also know how to share them.
