In Molière’s time, there was no doubt that the King of Gods was the incarnation of the Sun King, which made the play a scandal as much as a success. "I’ve always been interested in the relationship between the private and the political spheres, which here is made strikingly and brutally apparent. The public good no longer exists, deception is everywhere, including in one’s image .Who, really, is made a fool? Not Alcmène, not completely, she is no victim. Even in a great and sincere love story, dreaming of another man is normal. The unconscious must be able to travel. From desire emerges fantasy. Spending the night with a god, is it dream or reality? Who is pulling the strings? Who is playing whom? Throughout the play, where theatrical art and its secrets are at stake, some questions are left unanswered".
