William Shakespeare Author
Cécile Garcia Fogel project

Fools in the Forest  creation

As they share a passion for productions placing poetry in their core, the Théâtre de la Ville & La Maison de la Poésie have chose to support together Cécile Garcia Fogel's new production Fools in the Forest.

Cécile Garcia-Fogel turns words into images, images into tunes, tunes into beings of flesh, foolishness into poetry.

"I met a fool in the forest". Cécile Garcia Fogel has already used the cue out of As You Like It, for a montage of fragments of some of Shakespeare's plays. What remains is Fous dans la forêt [Fools in the Forest], what remains is Shakespeare. Apart from his dramas, he also wrote sonnets that voice the songs and cries of his heart, its errings, its sufferings and all love's frenzies. Today, Garcia-Fogel, who has constantly meshed words and music, gives free rein to her phantasms. And so a dreamland of a space appears. The dream creates a magical forest of sand and paper. You won't meet Puck there, nor the usual inhabitants of the Shakespearian tales. Instead you will meet Cécile Garcia-Fogel, a jazz singer Thierry Peala, and a guitarist/clarinettist. You might think they have been tossed on the shore, quite by chance, like some relatives of the castaways in The Tempest. Almost immobile, between silence and sonnets, they wander in this landscape born out of their imagination. Their voices, their bodies and movements trigger off transient visions, a world of metamorphoses. The poems become crystal clear.
