CHARTERING CHAOS

You have to imagine a community of men and women who would find themselves in some post-traumatic shelter after they were suddenly expelled from the frenzy of a convulsive world, or to phrase it differently they are now “out of time”, they have become “obsolete, ineffective, incapable of adapting to the required speed and fluidity of movement”. In the way he briefly mentions these « disconnected » people, one perceives that this fiction no longe is a long way off reality, a reality whose is felt more and more every day. One also perceives François Verret’s recurring obsession for more than thirty years, with hunting down excluded bodies in the trash of progress, and with the modulation of their dark shouts. For Courts-Circuits [Short Circuits], a creation for the Avignon Festival, the choreographer has called in major artists; where a team of dancers, a circus artist, a pianist, a percussionist, stage designers and an animated film director put together the jigsaw puzzle of a an out of tune world where the cartography of chaos mirrors a human race which blighted by the  monstrosities whose birth it has allowed.
