Jean-Claude Gallotta Choregrapher
CCN de Grenoble Groupe Emile Dubois Company

Faut qu'je danse / Daphnis é Chloé

A cry, a matter of such urgency ! Choreographer Jean-Claude Gallotta has never been the kind to hide his feelings or his emotions. When it’s time to go, to say out loud what’s kept silent, to jump in head first, Gallotta is your man. On the front line, he indulges in a solo entitled Gotta Dance! And that’s the way it goes. What else could be said, apart from underlining the beauty of the movements, the strength of the momentum that no one and nothing can stop. This new solo, twenty eight years after Hommage à Yves P. [Tribute to Yves P.] (1983), introduces the revival by three young performers of one of his seminal pieces, Daphnis and Chloe, performed in 1982 by Mathilde Altaraz, Pascal Gravat and Gallotta himself. In order to live again, without nostalgia, the circumstances of this creation which revolves around the fable of Chloe the wife, kidnapped by pirates of young shepherd Daphnis, Gallotta gathers his memories from the good old days, and the reviews as well, including that of writer Hervé Guibert who entitled his article Racheter la mort par des gestes [Atoning For Death by Movements]. This is, by all means, the first thing Gallotta intends to do, never mind the cost.
