Life and times- episode 2
Theatre Singing

HULLO…
In the time span of a phone conversation a woman retraces her memories. This the chronicle of an entire life, a series about American youth, told by a company full of talent and stamina.

A journey in the quiet daily life of a middle-class American child remembering his yout between the ages of 7 and 11; such is the subject matter of Life and Times – Episode number 2.
Episode number 1 (from birth to year 6) was seen last season at the Théâtre des Abbesses. This is the orientation of the couple who founded the Nature Theater of Oklahoma, Kelly Copper and Pavol Liska,. Carrying on with their research on the spoken language, its rhythm and construction, they taped phone conversations, which they present without any editing. yet their work has nothing in common with “documentary theatre”. The rendering of the genuine speech results from the contrasted yet merrily fluid alternation between dramatic performance and musical. Thus, confidences, questions, remembrances, hopes, jokes and regrets circulate in the maze of memory. For Pavol Liska they are reminiscent of Georges Perec’s Je me souviens, the monologue of a man on his bike telling the story of his life as it randomly comes to his mind.
