Children / A few Minutes of Lock  creation

Canadian dancer Louise Lecavalier revisits Edouard Lock's repertoire from the 90's and rediscovers in the present tense, with the help of Nigel Charnock's choreography, the gestures from childhood.

Louise Lecavalier is renowned for her irresistible impulse towards the other, epitomized in her famous spiral leap, her whole body thrown horizontally into her partner's arms. Today she tries to give her idiosyncrasy a new form. It may be that of the fragmentary memories present in A Few Minutes of Lock, in which, accompanied by Iggy Pop's music, the Canadian performer revisits some extracts of pieces from the 90's. She was at the time the emblematic figure of the Edward Lock Company, La la la Human Steps, as well as Lock's muse and egeria. Nowadays, Louise is on her own, equipped for other encounters with performers such as Benoît Lachambre or iconoclastic artists like Nigel Charnock who, in Children, casts her into the arms of a partner, from whom she must however depart. It is a duo, full of contaminating energy, for a couple close to breaking up, yet enjoying childish pranks. With its energetic gestures, often subject to about-turn, the dance/theatre of Nigel Charnock, alternatively cajoling and sulking, unveils a whole new facet of Louise Lecavalier's talent, a lovable woman-child or a woman-lover breaking up her links.
