This jugalbandi associates the two plucked stringed instruments which dominate the instrumental art of the North and the South: the ethereal and sparkling sitar meets with the sober and venerable veena, from far more ancient times. The two performing artists, born into families of great musicians, are the cream of the crop of their generation. Between their hands, these big lutes assert themselves in their sound identity in a dialogue between phrases of intense emotion in the development of the raga-s, and in the high-flying rhythmic improvisations.
