["…like moss gathering on stone…]

Let life fly, the song says. Pina Bausch was a real expert and brought back from Chile the flavours of her last ultimate journey.

When a star disappears, the sky is no longer exactly the same. But it takes so much time for the light the stars give off to reach us that their brightness fortunately goes down in history. Thus, Pina Bausch no longer is. But this starry dancer and starrying choreographer has forever passed on to us a light which is dark and joyful in turn. Although she had taken up residence at her Tanztheater in Wuppertal, she was a traveller in intensity who managed to carry her nomadic aesthetic design elsewhere, dropping anchor in human landscapes whose  variety our planet Earth has cultivated. Chile was her last haven. There she composed « …como el musguito en la piedra, ay si, si, si… » ("… like moss gathering on stone… "), created at Wuppertal on June 12th 2009, a few days before she entered eternal rest. Yet, this ultimate work is hardly about rest and anxiety, even if Pina was not impervious - and that’s putting it mildly -  to the wounds we inflict on the Earth which gives us hospitality. In the middle of the show, a song by Victor Jara, who had his hands cut off by the Chilean dictatorship so he would no longer be able to make love to his guitar, gives life to the dancing sap which makess moss soft on the roughness of stone: Deja la vida volar (Let Life Fly). Thank you, Pina, for this extraordinary two hour and a half gift, something to sustain us on our trip to eternity.
