music and words
For the second season in a row, Paris CRR and Théâtre de la Ville join forces to organize a "Music and words" cycle. Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Barbara Moser, Ronald Van Spaendonck: three famous musicians that will settle in CRR for a concert and a workshop. With their own words, they will present their work, their instruments or the pieces they chose. An original way for Théâtre de la Ville to weave links with CRR, one of Paris hotspots for musical training.

Travel through time: from Robert Schumann to John Williams.

Ronald Van Spaendonck, regular Théâtre de la Ville guest, proposes, together with Johan Schmidt, a colorful program opening with Schumann’s “Three Romances” op. 94. These elegant pieces have been originally written for piano and oboe and have been offered to the composer’s wife Clara on December 1849. We will then assist to a radical transition with three Anglo-Saxon XX century pieces: Bernstein’s Sonata, both influenced by Hindemith and Copland, and already incorporating some jazz elements; Horovitz’s Sonatina, with a more clearly assumed reference to this musical style; Viktor’s Tale klezmer theme composed by Williams for the film “The Terminal”.
