Saketharaman is greatly admired by the connoisseurs of carnatic singing , the main musical expression in Southern India. a disciple of the prominent violinistLalgudi Jayaraman, he won at the age of 15 the First Prize of the 2000 All India Radio singing contest and in 2005 in Madras he was awarded the Music Academy prize for the Best Under Twenty-Five Singer. His mastery of an eminently classical style and his maturity recall the singers of yore and make him one of the most promising vocal talents.
