Investigation into the meaning of nudity and freedom in defiance of traps and clichés. Two fake real conferences where we can amuse ourselves at our own expense.

Two finalists in the very first Danse élargie (in 2010) have returned to tell their story, and willingly laugh at themselves. Yaïr Barelli takes Bach down from his sacred pedestal, and Sylvain Riéjou has fun with the question of nudity in public life, in art, religion, politics and so on. His video-choreographic conference reviews his investigations into the naked truth, proving that there is no obscenity in nudity, and admitting, while doing so, that even for dancers it is not easy to display their own bodies. As humor is the reference, skin gently has its way. For Yaïr Barelli, it is a matter of stripping down part of his family history, the story of his Polish Jewish grandparents – the aptly named Goldberg family. Thus the famous Variations provide him with freedom, and he can then outsmart any expectations by setting them against a few popular dance icons. It’s all a matter of “tickling the grandiose aura” of Bach. A sparkling comedy-cum-conference in dance!
