A cruel tale, based on Ovid, showing monstrous instincts released and the apparent innocence of childhood.

This is the story of a king and a queen. The queen has a younger sister who sets off on a journey with the king. The king abuses the girl then leaves her defenseless in the depths of the forest. On his return to the palace, pretending to be grief-stricken, he tells the queen they were caught in a storm at sea and that her sister drowned. So begins the story of The Little Girl in the Dark Forest by Philippe Minyana, adapting the myth of Philomela and Procne as related by Ovid in the Metamorphoses. The director Pante¬lis Dentakis recounts the cruel tale on stage using figurines, with the actors moving them into different positions until the delicately crafted miniatures gradually take on their own life, changing proportions as video projection techniques ultimately transform them into monstrous shapes. The performance, built around effects of scale, relentlessly casts its spell in a chiaroscuro perspective ranging from horror to wonderment.
