“Translate words, but never imagine them.”
One evening, on her way home from school, Valentina discovers a note on the table. It was written in French by the doctor, for her mother, who doesn't speak the language. It had to be translated. Valentina stands there, facing her mother, the unpronounceable truth in her mouth: news that could damage their hearts and set their lives on fire. The truth can be ordered or withdrawn, hoped for or stifled. It's the flame around which Caroline Guiela Nguyen's new creation revolves, written like a fairy tale, close to the profession of professional interpreter and to Strasbourg's Romanian community.
