Working from the ancient myths, the Greek prodigy of the Berlin scene questions our future societies.

Greek-born and Berlin-based choreographer Kat Válastur has developed an acute awareness of the environmental and economic tensions of our age. A direct heir to the origins of European civilization, she naturally reinvestigates our mutating societies through ancient mythology. In her trilogy, The Staggered Dances of Beauty, she confronted contemporary technology with the sprawling temporality of ecosystems. This led to the vision of a post-apocalyptic body in the stage version of morphing, the digital process that allows one to slip from one identity to the next. "Arcana Swarm" is the last installment of this body of work that confirms Válastur’s highly ambitious and very personal style with an archaic vision of the future for a choreographic fiction of upcoming realities.
