For the first time, the Théâtre de la Ville is welcoming chamber music concerts, with an eclectic and captivating program conceived and performed by musicians from the prestigious Orchestre de Paris.
The bond and communication between the musicians of the Paris Orchestra is particularly evident when they play in a chamber music group. This audacious program brings together two string quartets by two of the most important composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The expressive power of Brahms’s nostalgic Quartet n°2 Op. 51 is thus extended by Ligeti’s dazzling Quartet n°1 in a single movement, one of the last works of his Hungarian period, in which his personal language emerges, both complex and rigorous, against the backdrop of the legacy of Bartók.
