JUANJO MOSALINI AND LEONARDO TERUGGI, AS HEIRS TO THE GREAT MASTERS, HAVE EMBRACED THE UNIVERSAL VALUES OF THE TANGO, AND DEVELOPED A NEW GENRE.

Astor Piazzolla’s venture with his “tango nuevo” has taken the tango even further away from dance, raising it to the level of “great music.” This has now distinguished a new generation extending the constructs of rhythm, articulation and form in writing and the very concept of the avant-garde of the new tango. “If you love our music, we love you. If you don’t love our music, we still love you.” Is this the message of the Mosalini Teruggi quartet? Their melodies assert a strong identity endowed with universal value. Listen to the tones, accents and aggressive contrasts, the stunningly brilliant rhythms deployed in in the enthusiasm of their repertoire and showing the boundless scope of their inspiration. Having inherited the legacy of the great masters, they are the bearers of a dual culture presenting not just the tango but what is now a new genre.
