Amos Gitai has made nearly a hundred films, documentaries, shorts and features, including The Last Day of Yitzhak Rabin, about the assassination of the Israeli Prime Minister. To inhabit his homes all over the world, Gitai invites anonymous people and great artists, such as Jeanne Moreau, Juliette Binoche, Natalie Portman, Yael Abecassis, Samuel Fuller, Hanna Schygulla and Arthur Miller. He sometimes fills them with the voices of authors he admires, Aharon Appelfeld (Tsili), Thomas Mann (Exiles from Within), Albert Camus (Letter to a Friend in Gaza). A constellation of retrospectives and prizes crown the diversity and coherence of a work that places documentary and fiction, memory and the present, intimacy and politics, experimentation and a sense of narrative in tension. Elected professor of artistic creation at the Collège de France in 2018, Amos Gitai has donated his archive on Yitzhak Rabin to the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
