Description
Robert Wilson, Lucinda Childs and violinist Jennifer Koh in an unprecedented creation.

Bach 6 Solo began a few years ago with the rapture felt on hearing the violinist Jennifer Koh, on seeing her transformed by the music which she irradiated with new presence. Later she performed the music of Einstein on the Beach in some of the cities on the 2013 tour. There is of course a close link between the music of Philip Glass and the music of Bach, both written with great mathematical precision.

When Jennifer Koh came to the Watermill Center, Robert Wilson suggested she do something on the Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin. But what? The risk would be of distracting the audience, of interfering with the way they listen to the music which, with the sound taking different directions, stirs the senses.
