Persian New Year

Nowruz or Persian New Year is celebrated by more than 300 million people across a region extending from the Middle East to Central Asia. According to the great Persian poet Ferdowsi, Nowruz was first cited by the legendary King Jamshid. Continuing from such mythical times across history and up to the present, Nowruz has become the one and only celebration to have stood unscathed in the face of wars, defeats and changing dogmas.
Nowruz is celebrated at the Spring equinox, on March 21, and is a time for dancing, singing and listening to works composed by outstanding musicians.
