King Lear, one of Shakespeare’s finest works. Georges Lavaudant has chosen Jacques Weber for the magnificent role. It is time for the storm scene.

King Lear presents the world in a play, presents chaos in a play. One father curses his favorite daughter, another father wishes death on the son he should love, while his other son betrays him, leaving his enemies to torture him. There is enough here to send anyone mad, and folly is present in this hell on earth. There is the jester whose banter and double-talk are an attempt to teach a lesson to Lear; there is the character who assumes the convincingly real disguise of a madman; there are the dangers of folly and obsession, and the royal madman, Lear himself, who loses everything including his mind. Staging King Lear means setting off on a quest for fragments of humanity in darkness in a bid to have them felt and made apparent, to embody them. Actors of excellence had to take on the challenge, and Georges Lavaudant has found the cast to perform with Jacques Weber and François Marthouret. .
