CARNIVALS IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY AND IN SARDINIA ARE BEHIND A SEPTET INSPIRED BY THE EXCITEMENT OF CROWDS, REVIVING POPULAR RITUALS AND DANCES.
First there was the IdiotSyncrasy duo and audiences loved the humor, but Igor Urzelai from the Basque country and Moreno Solinas from Sardinia have always preserved their ties to the pagan traditions of their respective homelands. For Karrasekare, the choice was for animal costumes and polyphonic song recognized as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage, plus energy passed down over the generations, sometimes basic but always uplifting. When coming together in catharsis, mysterious levels of the human heart and soul are stirred.
