“The Iranian Tar” is a work that developed in the course of a one-year journey across Iran. Ali Ghamsari had packed his traditional string instrument known as the “tar” and then exercised his instrumental art to play the melodies and songs of the provinces. Encountering distinct musical traditions in each region, he tuned his tar and accompanied masters living in remote areas, and is now presenting the art of these living treasures to a wide audience.
