Haydn / Tchaïkovski

The powerful, spirited horse in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings gave the name Arod to the quartet, and they have been performing for ten years. After winning prizes at leading competitions, the quartet established a reputation extending from Europe to Tokyo and New York. The program presents one of Haydn’s String Quartets Op. 76 which are recognized as some of the composer’s finest works, and Quartet No. 5 features a quite extraordinary slow movement. Then, with Violaine Despeyroux and Caroline Sypniewski, they will perform Tchaikovsky’s heartfelt sextet Souvenir de Florence, the composer’s musical rendition of the city of his dreams.
