THRILLS AND STORMS ARISE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL AND MODERN FORCES, WITH SEVEN MUSICIANS, ONE GIRL AND TWELVE DANCERS IN THE HEART OF AN EBULLIENT IRELAND.
Michael Keegan-Dolan moved to the Dingle Peninsula in south-western Ireland and found inspiration in the impressive landscapes and life in the rural community in this mountainous area and stronghold of the Irish language. So deeply impressed was he that he produced a major work reflecting features of local society, music and myths. Keegan-Dolan is an artist of many talents and has a special interest in the Irish tradition of storytelling. Here he presents a tableau based on the Gaeltacht (the Irish-speaking community) of County Kerry where modern life exists alongside the realms of the ancestors’ imagination. Whether the occasion is a wedding or a funeral wake, there will be a party. Here it is with the energy of a famous Irish concertina virtuoso, the Stargaze Ensemble musicians and international dancers. While the social ritual of celebration is entertainment in itself, it also offers a view on the other side of the looking glass.
