WHO IS ROMEO TODAY? A TROUBLED TEENAGER, IN LOVE WITH JULIETTE, HIS HEART IN SHREDS?

Romeo is 14 and suffering the torments of adolescence. He paces his messy room in frustration. He is in love with Juliette, but as we all know, the girl is out of reach – forbidden. Dramaturg Mariette Navarro draws on, rather than adapts Shakespeare’s tragedy, creating a free, tender and intimate interpretation, focused on the male protagonist. After Et Juliette, Marion Lévy, head of the company Didascalie, dreams up a modern-day Romeo, a high-schooler, plugged into social media, struggling with a changing body, swinging moods, oversized emotions and first-time love. Teamed up with a guitarist on stage, the dancer lets his emotions erupt into adrenalin-fuelled movement.
