A FILETTA, ABDULLAH MINIAWY, PETER CORSER
LUMIO
Corsica/Egypt
The striking voice of Abdullah Miniawy is resonant with Sufi mysticism. The young Egyptian singer was a sensation at the 2017 Festival d’Avignon where he performed Cairo’s Cry to Peter Corser’s saxophone and circular breathing, then his fame surged beyond geographical and musical borders. He now performs with one of the finest vocal ensembles for original polyphony led by Jean-Claude Acquaviva, the Corsican poet, singer and composer. There migratory birds fly in formation above the Mediterranean, embarking on new dreams of interactions, peace and fraternity, with emotional torrents pouring forth while also conjuring up echoes of ancient civilizations from the east. The LUMIO project has invented a form of “cosmic osmosis” where freedom and spirituality sing in chorus in a quest to find the shortest paths between zero and infinity.
