Danse élargie (expanded dance) was founded in 2010 by Boris Charmatz and Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota, along with the Hermès Foundation. Each edition is an opportunity for renewal and the 2026 competition expands beyond theatres to include projects designed for the outdoors. With public space as their playground, the artists work with the urban landscape, finding new forms of contact with audiences. On stage or outdoors, Dance élargie continues to expand our conceptions of dance and bring extraordinary experiences to the broadest possible audience.

Boris Charmatz will take over the Place du Châtelet the weekend prior to the competition, on May 30th and 31st 2026.
