Crystal Pite’s dance-theatre (Betroffenheit, Revisor, Assembly Hall) has impressed audiences with its power and precision. Simon McBurney is a visionary theatre director of 40 years experience. Having long followed each other’s work, these two artists have come together around a common concern: the environmental crisis and the threat of mass extinctions. They tackle this subject head on, finding fertile common ground in their shared multidisciplinary approach and vigorous physicality. By turns they compose striking tableaus somewhere between theatre and dance, brought to life by equally committed dancers. A magnificent trilogy about the immense and dizzying losses humanity is inflicting on itself.
