A SOUTH AMERICAN FANTASY OF MUSIC AND DANCE, WHERE THE BAROQUE MEETS THE PROPHETIC.
Inspired by South American baroque heritage, this “Last Fern” grows from the landscapes of Argentina and Peru and out of their vibrant traditions of song and dance. Here, a procession of six costumed musicians encounter a dancing couple. François Chaignaud and star Argentinian folklore singer, Nadia Larcher, invoke the far-sighted and consoling spirits of ancient prophetesses and dialogue with subterranean worlds. They are accompanied by a bandoneon, traditional drums and baroque instruments, including three majestic sackbuts! Nina Laisné has once again joined forces with François Chaignaud after their previous collaboration, Romances inciertos: another Orlando, in 2017. An artist and theatre director, Laisné sets this organic blend of music and dance in a mesmerising, rocky and somewhat perilous landscape.
