THE SUBVERSIVE AND CONTAGIOUS APPEAL OF A DANCER QUESTIONING BEAUTY STANDARDS AND GENDER NORMS.
Constantly combating stereotypes, this time the lively Italian choreographer takes inspiration from the Amazons, once considered the enemies of civilization. Drawing on their legend, she invents a contemporary shamanic rite that sees six dancers challenging their physical limits. Courageous and peaceful, they overturn stereotypical visions of femininity. Gribaudi comes to stage with her solo Suspended Chorus to celebrate the joyful, ephemeral communion between performer and audience. Here, the “Chorus” is the audience, moving as one, buoyed along by her vivacious energy, as she subverts the codes of dance to our immense delight.
