WHEN JAZZ MEETS EASTERN TRADITIONS
After Le Cri du Caire, Abdullah Miniawy returns with a new trio in which his intense voice joins with two trombones, played by Robinson Khoury (2024 Django Reinhardt Prize winner) and Jules Boittin. This original group brings together three tenor instruments in a fascinating dialogue, mixing jazz, eastern traditions and western influences. Together they create a unique sound landscape, weaving together musical motifs from baroque, Sufi and operatic traditions, augmented by the urban, mystic echos of Cairo. Miniawy’s lyrical, poetic voice melts into the flow of the sound, creating a profound musical experience that is both modern and spiritual. This remarkable project takes audiences on an emotional and sensory voyage, in which cultures come together and each note is a bridge between the past and the present.
