SHIZUKA KIMURA, ARTIST DIPLOMA 2025 AT THE ÉCOLE NORMALE DE MUSIQUE DE PARIS ALFRED CORTOT, WILL CONCLUDE THE PIANO SEASON AT LES ABBESSES. A STUDENT OF ERIK BERCHOT, SHE INVITES US ON A MUSICAL JOURNEY WHERE IMPRESSIONIST POETRY, VIRTUOSO MODERNITY, AND ROMANTICISM COME TOGETHER.
Shizuka Kimura, Artist Diploma 2025 at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot, will conclude the piano season at Les Abbesses. A student of Erik Berchot, she invites us on a musical journey where impressionist poetry, virtuoso modernity, and romanticism meet.
Originally from Osaka, Shizuka Kimura began playing the piano at the age of two, guided by her mother, a piano teacher. She then trained with Takayuki Itō, then in France, at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where she obtained her Artist Diploma in 2025 with honors and the congratulations of the jury. A student of Erik Berchot and Pavlos Yallourakis, she is now refining a subtle and determined artistic identity.
Her talent has been recognized in numerous international competitions: First Prize at the Giuseppe Raciti – Amigdala Competition in Italy (as well as two special prizes), First Prize at the City of Alessandria Competition and the Pianissima Competition (Allegro and Presto categories), finalist at the Rosario Marciano Competition in Vienna, and double medalist at the Chopin in Asia Competition in Japan.
For this concert at Les Abbesses, she will perform a program rich in contrasts:
