The Last Hamlet Ben Duke
Featuring Miguel Altunaga, Ben Duke and Hannah Shepherd • Original
WHY STAGE YET ANOTHER PRODUCTION OF HAMLET? BECAUSE BEN DUKE IS THE KING OF PRINCES!
Hamlet, the last one… who wouldn’t goggle at the number of times Hamlet is performed each year? Ben Duke certainly does. But as an actor, trained in theatre before dance, it’s a role he’s like to try, at least so as to finish with it once and for all. He starts a dialogue between the tormented prince and his own tormented self. Shakespeare gives him a platform to share his struggles around the meaning and necessity of the creative act. Supported by two excellent dancers who play all of the other characters in the play, he takes the audience on a journey filled with hilarity and just a little tragedy. Will this really be the last?
