Somewhere in the city, in between the towering estates of a low-income neighbourhood, Victoire wonders. She doesn’t understand why her big brother Isaac sleeps all the time, nor why the entire family is weighed down with sadness. Narrated from the perspective of a ten-year-old girl, L’Endormi tells the story of how young lives can be upturned with the swiftness of a knife. Inspired by a real-life tragedy, this original hybrid of music and theatre came about when writer Sylvain Levey, teamed up with singer Marc Namour, musician Valentin Durup and director Estelle Savasta. Buoyed by hope and the poetic power of rap music, L’Endormi weaves together spoken and sung words to remind us that violence is not inevitable and that it is always possible to start your life afresh!
