When she laughs, Amina gets a little dimple on her cheek. One of her dads does too, but not the other, how could this be? Is he still her dad? This intrigues her so much she soon becomes a true detective: she observes, takes photographs, interrogates her parents, grandparents, aunts and so on. Thomas Quillardet has created a one woman show for young audiences. The pop-up set is a kind of detective’s office plucked straight from a child’s imagination, and can be adapted to all spaces. Told from the perspective of a child “dimple detective”, this lively, funny, tender narrative also conveys its message on heritage and transmission with deft sound design. What if our parents pass down something far beyond mere physical resemblance ?
