At the age of 19, Benjamin Alard was hesitant to tackle this foundational musical work, yet, in time, it seemed inevitable. First approached with modesty, the variations have become an unending source of experimentation. On the organ, harpsicord or clavicord, he refines his conceptual and musical relationship to this masterwork, returning to it like a book that can be read again and again.
