Description
Robert Wilson and Isabelle Huppert meet again. At stake: the life and torments of Mary Stuart, queen of Scotland and France. Glory, prison and murders...

An evening in the ever-inventive theatre of Robert Wilson and a return to the throne for the great Isabelle Huppert as Mary Queen of Scots, the sovereign lady whose passions costs her a crown.

Mary is a woman who battled the forces of history in order to control her own destiny. On the eve of her execution, she is fighting still, fighting for the voice in which to summon the justice of heaven. She is a writer of history. There was her childhood at the court of France. Early widowhood put a stop to her dancing. She remembers. She returned to Scotland. It was in her nature to defy captivity. She wanted a strong man. It comes to happen. She marries, has a son, and murder is born. Nothing can be the same; life takes place at a different pace. Catholic, Protestant, Mary, Elizabeth, Death, Love, Death. She was born to flee and her reign ended in flight. She is not trying to survive. She is trying to outlive herself. Mary Queen of Scots is dressed in red on her last morning.
