The Russian pianist Varvara Nepomnyaschaya—who prefers to be known professionally only by her first name—was the revelation of the 2012 Géza Anda piano competition in Zurich, where she won first prize. No doubt that her first recital at the Théâtre de la Ville will be a sensation. Covering close to a century and a half of music, the program will delight listeners by intelligently contrasting key works by four genius composers—Soler, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and Stravinsky.
