Merce Cunningham surprised by juggling and the bourrée surprised by Algeria: two original encounters between tradition and exploration.
In Au coeur and LIFE, Danse élargie has brought together two seemingly opposite universes in dialog and fusion, and devised new prospects.
Sean Gandini, leading the company for juggling that is innovative to say the least, dares to challenge the revolutionary dancing of the late Merce Cunningham, to create an original vision of his art where legs, finally appreciated, move into juggling to respond to dance with balls and clubs.
Choreographer Dalila Belaza was working on a project with artists working in glass in the Aveyron region in France when she ran into the Lous Castelous de Sénergues ensemble, dancers wearing hats, shawls, ruffs and clogs! Serendipity, as the bourrée with a triple beat is in line with Algerian rhythms and can form a dialogue with Be¬laza’s solos where the feet are in contact with universal land while the upper body, as light as a cloud, transcends time and space.
