BITTER LOVE AND TARANTELLA

Maria Mazzotta is an iconic figure of the Apulia region and one of the most impressive voices in traditional Italian music. After classical training in harp and piano, she discovered traditional music during a concert of the group Aramirè. It was a real turning point. Since then, Maria has continued to develop her country’s musical repertoire and has become the singer of the famous “Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino”. Her discreet and versatile voice combines high technicality and heartbreaking power. In her last album Amoreamaro (2020), she sings about love, its insolubility and corrosive aspect. The song is then "remedy", alluding to the pizzica, this tarantella of Salento created by women to free themselves, notably from patriarchy. For this concert, this golden voice will be accompanied by the young and talented accordionist Vince Abbracciante.
